exploring freedom and seeking companionship. i'm a pretty passionate libertarian -- with reagan republican roots but socially open-minded, and contemptuous of most "mainstream" politics and of the idea of government and central planning as forces for good. i have a curious nature and eclectic interests, many of them of a "geeky" nature. i'm laid-back and non-judgmental. a fairly busy and diverse gamer (boardgames, miniatures wargames, and tabletop role-playing games). i'm in a happy, stable, recently polyamorous marriage of 25 years, and seeking friendship, romance, and growth.


i'm currently enjoying an early retirement, pursuing my hobbies, interests, and new experiences, and hoping to meet interesting people to share their interests and my own.


i enjoy visiting museums and sites of offbeat historical interest, and i'd love to find someone new with whom to explore such places in our area. i also like to get away to the poconos. if you live closer to there than to the philly suburbs, that would probably be the best area for us to meet in.


i enjoy interesting and varied conversation -- particularly relating to history, science, and strange phenomena/mysteries (anything from bigfoot to the bavarian illuminati to transient lunar phenomena). i count myself a "curious, open-minded skeptic" about most things. i'm a sporadic reader, particularly lately. i've enjoyed things like early tom clancy techno-thrillers and martin's "game of thrones" series. since getting a kindle a few years ago, i've taken to reading a number of public domain "classics" like frankenstein, notre dame de paris, and bulwer-lytton's "the coming race", enjoying them on their own merits and as cultural artifacts. i'm a musical child of the '80s, but my tastes today encompass classical, movie soundtracks, pop, metal, and goth. i enjoy big, lush sound both ironically and unironically, and jim steinman-produced stuff holds a special place in my heart.
